Trying to make money online

When I say the phrase “make money online” I’m sure the first thing going through your head is what’s the scam now. I don’t think anyone would blame you for thinking that.

I would like to shed some light on the making money online dream many people have. No, I am not trying to shatter your dreams, but let me tell you what you are getting into.

First of all, if you are trying to hop on the newest money making wagon you can bet at least 20,000 other people are doing the same thing. You have to remember it’s not called the world wide web for nothing. People in india, china, philippines and who knows where else can promote most of the same products and services you can. That said, after investigating any online money making product you will see that the respective markets are absolutely saturated. The majority of these markets are saturated to the point where it would take months or even years to make a single dollar from your search engine optimization and or search engine marketing efforts. Infact you have a much better chance of losing money on these “make money online” plans out there today.

Secondly, many of the strategies taught in these online money making plans are completely out dated and frowned upon by major search engines. Many of these money making plans will teach you how to use pay per click and even teach you how to bid on products within affiliate programs like ClickBank or MarketHealth or the other hundred that are out there. Again, you have to realize tens of thousands of people are bidding on just about every word related to just about every product in these affiliate programs. When this happens the price of clicks for highly searched keywords is substantial. This makes any return on invest pretty much impossible with pay per click.

Many people think if they simply put up a website people will come to it. This could not be further from the truth. If you are creating a website purely to sell a product or service the odds are you will not rank at all for the keywords you would have liked to. Now there are many ways you can get your website to rank well which include search engine optmization and search engine marketing. I’m not going to go into detail on these two techniques as it is beyond the scope of this article.

The point I am trying to make here is don’t just get into something because you want to make a quick dollar. It’s just not going to happen that way. If you want to make some money and do something you enjoy then get into something you are passionate about. If you love motorcycles then create a website that gives tips on maintainence or repair and let other people advertise on your site. You can also sell specialty parts if you don’t want to make some huge ecommerce site, or just use the website to get some local clients and repair their motorcycles out of your garage. The possibilities are endless, you just have to follow what you are passionate about.
